I had sushi for dinner on Saturday!
Yay! Sushi!
Didn't like it before, still don't like it, won't ever like it.
Except for that pregnant fish thing... (Sashibu? Sashimu? Not sure what it's called)
Oh and I've always liked chawan mushi :)
But seriously... Sushi? *bleghh*
I mean, raw salmon?
Pass.
Rice wrapped with seaweed?
Pass. They're weeds for a reason.
And wasabi?
It's not even spicy, it's some odd-tasting cheap thrill for your nasal cavity.
Yep.
Give me anything, Indian food, Malay cuisine, Chinese cooking, Western, Italian, Thai, anything!
Just not Japanese sushi.
Oh but tempuras and teppanyaki's great :)
But I couldn't have any say on Saturday's dinner because my dad's friend from Indonesia came down to M'sia and we went to Genting where the casinos were and it just so happens that his(my Dad's friend's) wife and his mum loves sushi.
Oh well.
*flushes down the raw salmon with hot hot ocha* (That's green tea in Japanese right?)
Yeah. I hope the salmon gets cooked by the rush of hot tea in my food tract.
So anyway, now lemme get to the part which cracked me up that night.
My Dad's friend(let's call him Uncle S from now) and his wife and his mum can only speak Mandarin with minimal English. So the whole time they talked to me, I could just smile/grin/"Mm hmm"/"Oh"/nod/etc as my reply.
To my defense, my Mandarin's OKAYYY.
I CAN understand what you say, thank you very much.
I CAN reply in Mandarin too. Just that it'll sound really odd. =D
Okay back to the story!
At one point, Uncle S turned to me and suggested to me(in Mandarin) to meet his son so we could get hitched.
I was still smiling/grinning/"Mm hmm"-ing/"Oh"-ing in reply to his suggestion...
Then they went on la.. He was like, oh my son's good-looking, like a Korean superstar...
(Yeah apparently the 26-year old boy's got a Japanese girlfriend, if I'm not mistaken.)
Then his mum chimed in... Said I could move back to Indonesia with them... I won't need to work... Each child would have their own personal servant... If you have three kids, you'd have three servants...
LOL.
At this point it was so funny I couldn't help laughing XD
Then Uncle S asked if I had any current partner.
Then he answered his own question in Bahasa Indonesia "Kalau ada, boleh potong"
Then he and my dad 'shook hands' over it.
XD
Hilarious at that point of time.
Oh well.
That Japanese girlfriend of Uncle S's son would fit in wayyyyyy better with the family's fav food. =P |
